These terms explain how you earn, keep and cash out points with Everyday Bills. They're part of our Terms of Service. Everyday Bills doesn't pay your bills: you pay them as you always have, and we give you points for the bill payments we find in the bank accounts you link.

1. Who can earn

Any Everyday Bills member with an active Essentials, Unlimited or Household membership can earn points, including during the 7-day grace period after a failed membership payment. Payments made while your membership is paused, canceled or refunded don't earn points. To earn, you need at least one bank account linked through our bank connection provider, and the bill payments must come from a linked account.

2. How you earn points

Each qualifying bill payment earns a set number of points based on its bill type, no matter the amount:

  • Rent & mortgage: 300 points
  • Utilities: 100 points
  • Insurance: 100 points
  • Auto loans & transport: 75 points
  • Education & student loans: 75 points
  • Phone & internet: 50 points
  • Health & wellness: 50 points
  • DMV, fines & taxes: 50 points
  • Credit cards & loans: 25 points
  • Streaming & subscriptions: 25 points
  • Everything else: 25 points

Unlimited earns on all your active bills. Essentials earns on up to 3 bills that you choose in the app; if you haven't chosen, we choose the 3 that earn the most points, starting with rent. You can change your choice, and payments to a bill you add later can earn once it's one of your 3.

We assign each bill a type when we find it. If a bill has the wrong type, we may correct it and adjust the points it earns, including points that are still pending. Up to 2 housing payments a month (for example rent and HOA dues) earn housing points; any more earn 25 points each.

3. Monthly limit

You can earn up to 500 points ($5.00) a month on Essentials and 1,000 points ($10.00) a month on Unlimited, and 1,000 points ($10.00) a month for each person on Household, from bill payments, including Silver and Gold bonus points. Payments count toward the month they were made, as shown by your bank. Once you reach the limit, more payments that month don't earn more bill points. Campaign bonuses funded by organizations and partner offer bonuses don't count toward the limit.

4. Qualifying payments

A bill payment qualifies when all of these are true:

  • It's a payment of $10 or more from one of your linked accounts that has posted (not pending) at your bank.
  • It's to a bill that's active in your account: one we added automatically, one you confirmed, or one you pointed us to from your transactions.
  • It's the first qualifying payment to that bill in that calendar month. Each bill earns once a month, even if you pay it more than once.
  • We find it within 60 days of the date it was made. If a bank connection was broken for longer than that, older payments don't earn when you reconnect.
  • It was made no more than 30 days before you joined (see Payments from before you joined).

Transfers between your own accounts, money coming in, refunds, bank fees and payments you reverse don't qualify, and neither do payments made mainly to earn points rather than to pay a real bill.

Person-to-person payments. A payment through an app such as Zelle, Venmo or Cash App can earn points only for a bill you've confirmed (usually rent paid to a landlord), and only if it's close to that bill's usual amount. Our team reviews these payments before their points can be confirmed, usually within a few business days, and may ask you for more information, such as your lease.

5. Payments from before you joined

When you join, bill payments you made in the 30 days before you joined can earn points once, under the same rules as any other payment, including the monthly limit for the month they were made. Payments made earlier than that never earn points. We read up to 90 days of your past transactions only to find your bills.

6. Pending and confirmed points

When we find a qualifying payment, its points show as pending right away. Points are confirmed and added to your available balance 7 days later, unless the payment is reversed or refunded in the meantime. For person-to-person payments under review, the 7 days count from when they're approved. Pending points can't be cashed out. We usually find a new payment within a day of it posting at your bank; you can also ask us to check now in the app.

7. Reversed and refunded payments

We take back the points for a payment if your bank removes it from your account history (for example because it was reversed or never went through), if the same biller refunds about the same amount within 30 days of the payment, or if our review finds it isn't a bill payment. Pending points are simply removed. If points were already confirmed, we deduct them from your balance and from your lifetime points; if your balance doesn't have enough points, it may go below zero until you earn more. We'll tell you when we remove points and why. Campaign bonuses for that payment are removed too.

8. Status tiers

Your status is based on the total points you've earned over the life of your membership:

  • Bronze: Where every member starts. Base points on every qualifying payment.
  • Silver: 5,000 lifetime points. 5% bonus points on every qualifying payment.
  • Gold: 15,000 lifetime points. 10% bonus points on every qualifying payment.

9. Bonuses

Achievements: bonus points are added when you claim a completed achievement in the app.

Referrals: when someone joins with your invite link, has a bill payment confirmed and stays a member past their 30-day money-back window, you each get 500 points. No bonus is paid if they get a refund. You can't refer yourself or create accounts to earn referral bonuses, and we may limit referral bonuses to prevent abuse.

Birthday bonus: 100 points in your birthday month.

Campaign bonuses: organizations such as employers, property managers and billers may fund extra points for on-time payments we detect on certain bill types for a limited time. A campaign bonus is pending with the payment's points and confirmed with them, and campaigns stop when they end or their budget runs out.

Partner offers: bonus points for switching to a partner are added after the partner confirms your switch, usually within 30 days.

10. Point value

100 points are worth $1 when you cash out. Points have no cash value until you cash them out as described below, and can't be sold, transferred to another person, or combined with another account.

11. Cashing out

You can cash out points your balance shows as available (confirmed), starting 30 days after you first join (after your money-back window). Members whose membership is paid by an organization can cash out right away:

  • Everyday Bills rewards card, from 1,000 points ($10.00), usually available in 1–2 business days
  • Instant cash-out to your debit card, from 1,000 points ($10.00), with a $0.99 fee taken from the amount you cash out
  • Gift cards, from 1,000 points ($10.00), emailed right away
  • Mailed check, from 2,500 points ($25.00), usually arriving in 5–7 business days

Gift cards are subject to the issuer's terms. The rewards card is issued by our card partner under its own cardholder agreement.

12. Point expiration

Your points don't expire while your membership is active. If you cancel, you have 90 days to cash out your available points, after which unredeemed points are forfeited. If you rejoin within those 90 days, your points stay in your account.

13. Refunds and closed accounts

If you use the 30-day money-back guarantee, all points earned during your membership, available and pending, are removed when the refund is issued. If you delete your account, unredeemed points are forfeited, so cash them out first.

14. Taxes

Rewards may have tax consequences. If we're required to report rewards to tax authorities, we'll ask you for the information we need and send you any required tax forms. Talk to a tax professional about your situation.

15. Fraud and abuse

Each bank account can earn for only one member. We may review any payment before confirming its points, ask you for information such as a lease or bill statement, and withhold, remove or reverse points, or close an account, if we believe points were earned through fraud, abuse, errors or a violation of these terms or our Terms of Service.

16. Changes to the program

We may change point values, bill types, earning rules, tiers, bonuses or cash-out options, or end the program. We'll give you at least 30 days' notice of changes that reduce the value of your rewards, and points you've already earned keep their value until the change takes effect. If we end the program, you'll have at least 90 days to cash out your points.

Everyday Bills is a technology company, not a bank. We never pay your bills or move money for them; the only charge is your membership. Bank connections are provided by MoneyKit and are read-only.

Points have no cash value except as described in the Rewards terms. Monthly earning limits apply. The credit score shown is a VantageScore 3.0 from our credit partner and may differ from scores lenders use; checking it doesn't affect your score. Rent reporting is optional, available on Unlimited and Household, and doesn't guarantee a change to your credit score; late payments may be reported. Identity protect and privacy protect are provided with our partners; identity theft insurance is subject to the terms, conditions and exclusions of the policy.
